CITY OF SAN CARLOS
“The City of San Carlos employed ArLyne Diamond to do an organizational study. Dr. Diamond spent over one year observing the workings of City Hall and interviewing key personnel. Her observations and conclusions were presented in a comprehensive report which included recommendations for each City department…. She was deeply involved in redefining the way San Carlos does business and in reshaping employee attitudes…. We found her insights to be of great value and have made them a feature in many of the changes we have implemented since.” - Michael P. Garvey, City Manager, City of San Carlos
“Dr. Diamond consulted for the City of San Carlos to facilitate our permit streamlining process. She was instrumental in leading our very successful, award winning efforts, resulting in over one hundred changes to provide better services to our customers.
Equally important was the significant improvement in how the various City Departments, including Police and Fire, now work with one another. Of particular note was her ability to motivate each department representative to start thinking about how his/her department functions without becoming ‘territorial’ – to work toward common goals and solutions without protecting his/her own department if change was warranted.
Listing what I believe to be her outstanding qualities and strengths can best sum up my recommendation of Dr. Diamond:
• Intelligence: an active, alert and quick mind. She is able to grasp an issue and determine various workable alternatives for timely and responsible solutions.
• Experience: varied – both technical and practical in many subject areas.
• Writing Skills: concise, accurate, and easy to read and understand.
• Verbal Skills: excellent communicator – one-on-one and groups – citizens, public and elected officials.
• Organization: understands inter-departmental relationships and dynamics.
• Team Building: builds consensus and ‘buy-in’ by participants – common goals, objectives, strategies and efforts – ‘we can do anything together!’
• Innovation: challenges personal and organizational beliefs and strategies – the way ‘things have always been done’ – why not consider alternative/better ways?
• Awareness: sees the ‘big picture’ and the individual pieces that comprise it.
• Attitude: positive, ‘can do’
• Interpersonal Relationships: effective working with groups that have ‘their own agenda.’ Is not threatened by strong people and stimulates participation throughout the process by all participants.
• Cost Control: conscious about budget and time restraints. Met them and in several cases, beat them.
• Change Agent: facilitates effective change by using all of the skills noted above.”
- Steve Watry, Community Development Director, City of San Carlos

"I have enjoyed working with you on the Permit Streamlining Core Team here in San Carlos. When you joined the team my concern was for positive results that would, or could, be obtained given the confrontational nature of the process. Your professional, adroit and humorous handling of the many meetings gave everyone a comfortable and open approach to problem solving that has accomplished more than I ever thought possible. I appreciate your ability not only to lead people, but to redirect their energies by looking at problems differently as well as your ability to change attitudes, the hardest of all to reshape.” - Leonard D. Miller, CEO, Quorum
“ArLyne has worked with nearly all SamTrans’s divisions in various tasks and roles. She has developed strategies and programs which have greatly benefited the district in dealing with issues such as team building, organizational development, process re-engineering, management and leadership training, 360 degree management evaluations and conflict resolution.
ArLyne’s instinctive ability to quickly understand the crux of issues that management has either overlooked or not acknowledged, has set her apart from the majority of consultants with whom I have worked the past twenty years. Additionally her direct approach to both management and staff has been a refreshing change which has augmented her ability to resolve underlying issues and problems.”
-George Cameron, Chief Administrative Officer, SamTrans
“We engaged ArLyne’s services to help effect a cultural change through leadership training and coaching. Simply stated, her performance was exceptional. Her coaching produced demonstrable differences in the leadership qualities of our managers and key staff members and resulted in significantly improved relationships throughout the organization.
I strongly recommend ArLyne’s services to any organization, particularly one that wants to confront its performance objectives head-on. Her approach is direct and unequivocal. Most of our staff members found her style refreshing and provocative, but individuals must be willing to face sometimes difficult realities in order to implement her suggestions. An example is the “360 degree management evaluations” in which performance assessments are generated both up and down the chain of command. In the process, our supervisors and managers were exposed to some candid appraisals by subordinates. While initial reactions were sometimes unsettling, there was general agreement that the outcome led to a stronger, more competent team.
ArLyne is an extremely well trained, highly motivated individual who draws upon years of experience and a superb educational background. Despite her direct approach she presents her programs in a casual and warm manner and is able to relate well to people of all persuasions.”

“I would love to refer ArLyne to other clients who have similar needs for their employees. The Compliance Training she conducted for our Group Leaders and Managers received excellent feedback from the participants. All of them felt it was very interactive and she made it so very exciting with role-play and live examples from her own experiences. It was a full day workshop and everyone felt it was very informative and useful. ArLyne takes great pains to understand the group she is addressing and accordingly plan her workshop to best suit the needs of the group.”

GDA TECHNOLOGIES, INC.
“As a highly specialized Electronic Design Services (EDS) company, we recruit some of the most intelligent and highly educated engineers and technicians from all over the world. In spite of their education, which in many cases includes MBAs, we have difficulty promoting these men and women into positions of management when we identify that they lack some of the essential 'soft skills' required for such enhanced responsibilities.
Having experienced the quality of her work personally during the three years he attended the CEO Leadership Roundtable she led, our CEO, A. G. Karunakaram brought Dr. ArLyne Diamond into our company to work with all levels of our management team.
ArLyne Diamond Pd.D., is a Management and Professional Development Consultant, with a background in both business and psychology. She brings experience, wisdom, and practicality in addition to her education and theoretical background. Her style is direct, friendly, and warm, making it very easy for those she is working with to relate to her, try new techniques under her tutelage, and ask her for help and advice.
Briefly, Dr. Diamond teaches what is now known as 'soft skills.' In other words, she teaches people how to get the most out of themselves and others in the workplace. Her counseling goes far beyond simply teaching communication skills.
She was with us for a year, and whenever opportunities come up, we intend to continue to use her services in a variety of areas. During that year she worked both individually and in groups with several levels of our managers and potential managers. She guided them how to manage people, projects, processes and programs.
Included in her highly interactive workshops were topics that dealt with diversity, working in a global economy, communication skills, presentation, image, managing meetings, working with your boss, motivating and holding people accountable, persuasion as a tool of project management, styles of learning, management types, and dozens of other topics.” - A. G. Karunakaram, CEO, GDA Technologies, Inc.
“The feedback from all our employees was outstanding. They liked her personally, respected her work, and wanted to have her return to offer additional workshops. Many of our managers came to her for personal professional development.
ArLyne gives much more of herself than most consultants. She shows sensitivity, loyalty and concern for the organization she serves. She met with our CEO and members of our senior executive staff as she felt it necessary to understand some of the concerns and needs of our staff. She helped us with other projects we had that were outside the scope of our contract with her and behaved at all times as though she herself were a significant and long term member of our senior staff.
Dr. Diamond is capable of consulting at every level of an organization and across many dimensions. She is experienced in Strategic Planning, Organizational Development, Dealing in a Global Economy, Sales and Customer Relations and Service, Management Training and all aspects of Human Resources, including Interviewing, Performance Analysis, Sanctions, Motivation, Diversity, Discrimination, Safety, Drug Free Work Place, and Sexual Harassment.
It is always a great pleasure and privilege for me to be associated with Dr. Diamond. I am positive your organization will also benefit from great improvements with her contributions.” - Gopa Periyadan, Co-founder, Vice President & GM SSBU, GDA Technologies, Inc.

“I found ArLyne’s counsel and advice to be so invaluable that I brought her into the senior marketing group and retained her services for the development of my product management team, and subsequently, other teams throughout the organization.
ArLyne is completely qualified to serve as confidant and mentor for senior, mid-level and professionally degreed individuals. Her breadth of understanding people, conflicts, motivation, and the business cycle have rather uniquely enabled her to add insight and valuable input into many aspects of driving an organization forward in a fast-paced environment.
ArLyne’s professional credentials, combined with a broad industry perspective on the problems confronting organizations are unmatched in her field. I have brought her into many different situations and her superb ability to facilitate, educate, and moderate proved invaluable.
As an executive committed to growing world-class teams, I consider ArLyne one of my most cherished 'secret weapons' in my toolbox for success.” - Lori Kendall, Director Product Management & Marketing, Genesys Telecommunications Laboratories
“At Genesys/Alcatel, when I led the enterprise applications product management team, one of our big challenges was merging divergent technologies into a suite of products where ‘the whole was greater than the sum of the parts.’
For a long time, we had designed and built our products to work independently – to be delivered to different segments within the same overall market. We had poor integration, poor cross-platform use cases, and poor user experience/UE design. It didn’t help that our development teams had not cross-pollinated or shared tools or best practices. Clearly, as a product management organization, the change had to start with us and we were a little stuck.
We went on a two-day retreat to do some team bonding, share ideas, and to get out of the rut. ArLyne started us out on a warm-up exercise that we initially thought was a silly but in retrospect, it was really powerful.
Instead of creating linear to do lists and brainstorming topics (which is cognitively all wrong but we’re all guilty of starting this way from poor training and poor facilitation skills), you gave us a bunch of felt squares, figures, symbols, markers and butcher paper. You asked us to do a non-verbal exercise where we imagined all of our applications working together, but instead of features, you wanted us to use pictures to tell a story ‘in the life of a call center manager, agents, supervisors, and customers.’
It turned out to be an incredibly powerful exercise. Sometimes, to be creative, you just have to get out of your head!
It was fun working with you, very productive, and rewarding. Good luck on your next assignment." - Lori Kendall, Director Product Management & Marketing, Genesys Telecommunications Laboratories

JOINT VENTURE SILICON VALLEY
“As a skilled professional and public spirited volunteer, ArLyne worked endless hours over two years with the City of San Carlos to improve their permitting process. Successful process and organizational improvements require strong facilitation and interpersonal skills. ArLyne has the ability to listen, manage conflict and get to the bottom line. The San Carlos project resulted in positive and tangible changes to their processes and organization.
ArLyne also conducted a regional survey of key leaders/CEOs in both the private and public sectors to discern levels of understanding and satisfaction with Silicon Valley’s regulatory environment and to identify current and future areas of concern. Joint Venture has used this valuable study to help chart its current priorities and work plans.” - Connie Martinez, Vice-President, Joint Venture Silicon Valley
